What to expect at a class

Our classes present teachings on Buddhism and meditation in a way that is accessible and meaningful for Western people. Our teachings are authentic Buddhist teachings, but they are presented in a way that makes sense to busy modern people and in a way that can be applied immediately to your daily life.

Classes are held either at our main Center in Banker's Hill, or at an outside venue. We offer classes in safe locations, and offer a warm and friendly environment in which you can learn to find inner peace. Most classes are attended by a mix of people from various backgrounds. Most of the people attending our classes were not born Buddhist, and there is no expectation that people who attend will become Buddhist. These teachings are offered openly so that everyone can have the opportunity to improve their lives and peace of mind.

Classes at the Center in Banker's Hill

Everyone is welcome to come to the Center, and we offer programs almost every day. When you come into the Center you will see our bookstore, and a friendly face to greet you. In our bookstore you can find books and audio CDs covering every aspect of Buddhist meditation, from the most basic practices to the most profound. We ask that, out of respect, people turn off their cellphones and remove their shoes when they enter the meditation room. Other than that, we don't ask that you observe any other unusual etiquette. We want you to feel comfortable and we're here to help you. You don't need to bring or wear anything special to the classes. Most people sit on chairs, although cushions are available if you prefer.
